Welcome to the world of Coco & Wolf.
Each and every Coco & Wolf product has a story, one which begins with the design of the fabric and long continues once it arrives in your home. In between these points, whether it is a pillowcase, picnic blanket or dress, it is in the safe hands of a team who are fully immersed in everything we create. And our team are pretty special, they are at the heart of all we do which is why we felt it was so important to introduce them to you. Today, in our "Five Minutes with..." series we introduce you to our studio assistant, Emma.
I can’t lie, I was not an early adopter of podcasts. In fact, it was with reluctance that I listened to my very first one, absolutely certain that nothing would convince me that I needed them in my life. I don’t know why the reluctance, but 40 minutes of laughter later and I was a convert. Fast forward a couple of years and thank goodness podcasts are still all the rage because I love listening to them and I’m now an annoying advocate, asking everyone “do you like podcasts?”!
Sound the klaxon! With the summer solstice has come a heatwave and there’s only one way to enjoy food when the sun is shining - outside, under bright blue skies with a good old-fashioned picnic. Here at Coco & Wolf we know only too well how the charm of a picnic can quickly go downhill when the wine gets warm and the chocolate rice krispy cakes start melting in little warm hands. So, whilst we are purveyors of the perfect picnic we also believe in keeping things simple.
As I write this, here in the UK it is half term and whilst our children are getting a well earned break from school work, parents all over the country are (mostly) breathing a sigh of relief as they’ve survived a term in their new-found role as teachers. The opportunity to keep our children safe at home is, of course, a privilege, but at times it has also been incredibly tough. Supporting our little people’s emotional wellbeing and nurturing their education in such uncertain times with very little preparation has certainly been an experience and so half term has been welcomed with very open arms! One of the highlights of our springtime home learning has been outdoor crafting and projects, and with the weather on our side (thank you sunshine!), I thought I would share some of our favourite nature inspired half term activities which can be done outside, around the garden table or out on a walk, with things you either already have, or can find with relative ease.
By now I think it's safe to assume we all love a bit of interiors inspiration; we find it not only influences the pieces we create for Coco & Wolf, but our own home styling too. Thankfully, we have a few favourites who we know we can always rely on to spark creativity and inspire. Today, in the second of our Inspiring Interiors series, we chat to Laura Jackson, host of one of our favourite podcasts, "Hoste", and one of our must follows for interior inspo on social media. Homeware designer and supper club co-founder Laura chats to us about curating your home, having the confidence to create spaces you love which aren't necessarily trend led and her go-to store cupboard recipe.
As most of us are at home with a little more time on our hands than usual it's the perfect opportunity for you to make a cup of tea, find your favourite comfy spot and get to know the team behind Coco & Wolf. After introducing you to our founder, Amy, a few weeks back, today you're able to get acquainted with our studio manager, Paula. The sewing fanatic's days are spent overseeing the seamless production of Coco & Wolf's infamous, beautiful heirloom products.
Almost four weeks into the UK's lockdown and we're hearing more and more people saying noticing the smallest pleasures in everyday life is keeping them smiling in this upside down world. We couldn't agree more that this approach is so important in times which are so uncertain. For us, outdoor spaces no matter how big or small are bringing joy, especially now the days are longer and the weather a little warmer.
With the clocks changing, ground warming and bulbs coming to life, it feels like the perfect time to consider a seasonal shift in our homes. This doesn’t need to be a huge project, it could be a couple of quiet hours on a Sunday morning, or a few small focusses to add structure to otherwise groundhog day like days. It’s important to remember that this time doesn’t have to mark the reinvention of the wheel, whatever your headspace allows for right now, do that. If it doesn’t allow for anything, then so be it, and without guilt!
In these uncertain and unsettling times we've already witnessed people's need for a momentary escape; a creative outlet, meditation, a peaceful cup of tea in a sunny spot. At Coco & Wolf we have long planned a series which showcases some of our favourite interiors and the inspiring people behind them, but now more than ever, we hope these provide you with a chance to relax and be inspired by these beautiful homes.
In these surreal and uncertain times we wanted to reach out to our lovely customers and offer some solidarity. We are all suffering from the effects of Covid-19 in one way or another, and hope that you and your families are well and remaining positive. Please look after yourselves and your loved ones.
