The Mother's Day Gift Edit
Mums are truly wonderful creatures and often the most deserving, which is why here at Coco & Wolf we unapologetically champion making mums feel special on Mothers Day. Each year the most important woman in your life will tell you she is perfectly content with just the presence of her children - whether tiny ones at her feet or grown ones piled in for Sunday lunch, but mums are almost always the very last on their own list of priorities, so showing them you really care with a thoughtful gift feels extra special. If you need a helping hand with present ideas, we have pulled together some treats which we're certain your mama will love, but won't have thought to get for herself. Go on, treat her!
For the Mum who adores her garden...
Support a local business whilst giving your mum a gorgeous, un-rushed afternoon out come Spring with a pick your own flower voucher. British blooms really are the best in our humble opinion, and we're fairly sure your mum will be on our wavelength.
If her weekends aren't spent tending her own glorious garden, your mum probably enjoys wandering around others. A Coco & Wolf Liberty fabric picnic blanket is a wonderful addition to leisurely lunches, or slightly more chaotic ones, surrounded by grandchildren and sausage rolls.
A friend once told us that on their wedding day they had given their grandparents a rose, which they then planted in their gardens and took great joy in. The sentiment didn't pass us by and we think any green fingered mama would love seeing this thoughtful gift bloom year after year, reminding her of her beautiful brood. David Austin roses are hard to beat, all have bountiful blooms and in most cases, wonderful fragrance.
For the Mum who can lend her hand to anything...
Even mums need to kick back and relax sometimes and in a world where technology is such a huge part of our everyday lives the simple notion of switching off and enjoying a new book in a favourite chair can feel like a luxury. Update her favourite reading nook with a charming Liberty fabric cushion.
She constantly tells you that spending time with you is the best gift she could receive; indulge her in that whilst doing something creative together so she can add yet another string to her already multi-talented bow. Why not try a brush lettering or calligraphy class if she'd like to add some flourish to future correspondence, or pottery is said to be the most hankered after hobby of 2020!
When she's not thinking about others she's often thinking about the planet, so our reusable shopping bags are the perfect way to add a bit of style to her sustainability. We've even got some frill edged beauties for the mum who is a bit extra!
For the Mum who loves a bit of luxury...
Liberty print silk pillowcases. Need we say more?! Your mum probably already has the softest bedding and the fluffiest towels (what is their secret?!), but we'll bet she won't ever have had anything as luxurious as our 100% silk satin, handmade pillowslips. We probably should add a warning here that you are absolutely going to want to keep these for yourself.
Okay yes, we admit, booking your mum in at the local spa is probably easier, but Mothers Day isn't about ease, it's about thoughtfulness and as mums ourselves, we think this next idea is a true example of the word treat. Take one of our pretty Liberty fabric toiletry bags and fill it with little luxuries. We're thinking hand cream which actually works, a face mask which will leave her feeling like she's had a facial and a beautifully scented soy candle for her dressing table by one of our favourite home-grown businesses, The Botanical Candle Co. Self care at its finest.
Finally, one of life's most simple luxuries. A really, really good cup of tea. This one does relies on your knowledge of whether she's into her darjeeling or earl grey, but a tin of her favourite loose tea shows you've really given her some thought, and a comely teacup to go alongside makes for a treasured treat. If you've got little ones, a mug painted by them at a pottery cafe is a wonderful snapshot of a time she'll never want to forget.
Mothers Day really is the perfect excuse to treat the important women in your life, but if nothing else, don't forget a card with some heartfelt, handwritten words. You can thank us later.
