Loving Lodden
Originally designed by arts and crafts visionary, William Morris, in 1884, Lodden is one of the greatest historical textile designs. Coco & Wolf all started in 2013 with founder, Amy's love of Lodden and even today, it continues to be one of William Morris and Liberty's most iconic and beloved prints.
About William Morris
William Morris was an English designer, craftsman and visionary thinker whose designs for fabrics, furniture, wallpaper and other decorative arts generated the Arts and Crafts movement in England and revolutionised Victorian taste. A key figure in Liberty’s artistic heritage, many of Morris’ prints themselves have in turn become beloved Liberty fabrics, such as the iconic Strawberry Thief and Lodden. They have also sparked the inspiration for many of Liberty’s contemporary interpretations.
Lodden as a Liberty Fabric
Lodden has a special place in founder, Amy’s heart. It was the very first print she brought and the original design inspired the start of Coco & Wolf. Amy even used the print threaded throughout her wedding where it worked beautifully across men’s ties and pocket squares, cake ribbon and homemade chutney jar toppers.
William Morris’ Lodden has had numerous iterations since it was revived in 2007, with enchanting and luxurious colour ways arriving all the time. Coco & Wolf is famous for mixing prints, whether they are complementary or clashing, and Lodden is best loved for its effortless pairing with Liberty’s traditional florals. Its timeless, heritage design is packed full of arts and crafts motifs and works beautifully across homewares and clothing alike and it is easy to see why it is so inspirational to Amy. This season, Coco & Wolf proudly introduced Lodden in a brand new colour way, bringing beautiful tones of blush and raspberry with khaki and air grey.
