A Gift For the Host: How to Wrap a Bottle
Summer often sees our social calendars gather pace and we love nothing more than spending extra time with friends and family on balmy summer evenings and sunny Sunday afternoons. Whether the invitation is for a BBQ or garden party, the go to gift for the host is almost always a bottle of something lovely, be it a wine, bubbles or homemade elderflower cordial. No one likes to arrive empty handed, after all. But what about those occasions where you want to add a little more effort and thanks? We’ve discovered the perfect solution and it has been very gratefully received by friends and family alike, and it also works incredibly well as an end of term teacher gift for those still head-scratching on that subject! How To Gift Wrap a Bottle
All you need for this beautiful bottle upgrade is a pair of napkins - we’ve used our Stitch Napkin Set but this also works really well with a Scallop Napkin Set or a Wavy Napkin Set. You can use ribbon, twine or contrasting fabric scraps to finish the wrapped bottle, whatever takes your fancy. Pick a Liberty print fabric which you feel your host will love - you can’t ever go wrong with a pretty floral, in our opinion.
Step One
Open up your napkins flat and lay them together on the diagonal.
Step Two
Place your bottle right at the top corner of the napkins and fold the bottom of the napkins up and over the bottle. You want the corner to fall just beneath the neck of the bottle.
Step Three
Gently tuck the sides slightly beneath the bottle.
Step Four
Pull each bottom corner of the napkin up to the bottle neck, tucking the sides in neatly.
Step Five
Wrap both remaining napkin sides over the bottle, creating a layered effect. Always pull the napkin fabric as tightly as possible to keep the bottle wrap neat.
Step Six
Roll the bottle over so the wrapped layers face down, before tying everything together in a bow. You may need to wrap your fabric scrap, twine or ribbon around a few times.
It really is easy once you know how and we truly don’t know anyone who wouldn’t be thrilled with this elevated touch. Sustainable gift wrapping is certainly the way and we’ll be using this beautiful bottle wrapping technique at every possible opportunity.
