Memorable Food Moments Shared by the Coco & Wolf Team

The festive season is a time when food takes centre stage, not just as sustenance but as the thread weaving together family traditions, shared laughter, and cherished memories. For many of us, the Christmas table becomes a stage for stories that we revisit year after year. The Coco & Wolf team has been reminiscing about their most unforgettable Christmas food moments, and we’d love to share them with you.

This year, as you gather around beautifully set tables adorned with our Liberty fabric table linen, we hope these tales inspire your own reflections and prompt you to share your special moments.

Sweet Surprises and Sibling Shenanigans

When our parents stopped giving us stockings as teens, we siblings took over. One year, my eldest brother filled my stocking entirely with tubes of Smarties. At first, I was thrilled - Smarties are my favourite! By the fourth tube, I realised what was happening. It was such a silly, thoughtful gesture that had us all laughing.” Andrea, Customer Service & Logistics Administrator

These little moments, steeped in humour and love, bring an extra sparkle to the season.

Mischievous Moments with a Four-Legged Friend

One Christmas morning, I discovered our cocker spaniel Maggie had devoured a fine Tuscan salami from a gift hamper intended for my uncle. Though I worried she might fall ill, she simply looked at me with a mischievous glint in her eye, entirely guilt-free. We still laugh about that day, remembering Maggie’s fine taste in food and her spirited personality.” Eleonora, Concession Manager

Even our furry companions know how to make Christmas memorable, often leaving us with stories to tell for years to come.

The Joy of Traditions Passed Down

As the years have passed, the honour of bringing the flaming Christmas pudding to the table has moved from my great granny to my nan and now to my mum. Yet one thing remains unchanged - while quiet falls over the room and people are eagerly tucking into their first taste of the rich and decadent dessert, my grandad begins a very elaborate performance of coughing up the hidden silver sixpence as is traditionally hidden in the pudding. Only it is never just one coin. While everyone groans that every year it always finds its way into his portion, he proudly delivers an abundance of coins all over the table while the entire room breaks into hysterics. Watching my children now erupt in laughter at the same joke that delighted me as a child reminds me how lucky I am to see these traditions endure.” Laura, Head of Marketing

The stories woven around the table often carry on through generations, becoming the fabric of family Christmases.

Feasts and Family Traditions

My mum is an incredible cook, and while Christmas lunch preparation stresses her out, she secretly enjoys it. Meanwhile, my brother does absolutely nothing to help but eagerly anticipates Christmas lunch all year. He doesn't eat all day and then piles his plate so high it’s become a running joke. It’s this combination of chaos and camaraderie that makes Christmas lunch so special.” Charlotte, Social Media Assistant

The heart of the holiday season often lies in the simple joy of gathering for a meal.

A Legacy of Love in Baking

Baking together with my Grandma in her kitchen are some of my fondest memories. While we regularly made cakes and gingerbread men throughout the year, her Christmas cakes were legendary. Every November, my siblings and I helped her make 20 cakes for friends and family. We mixed them by hand, fed them with brandy weekly, and decorated them with love. Though she passed away nine years ago, her recipe lives on, and my daughter now carries her name as a tribute to the woman who poured so much love (and brandy) into Christmas.” Lauren, Merchandising Assistant

These sweet, heartfelt moments remind us how food can be a vessel for love and legacy.

As you reflect on your own festive memories, don’t forget the setting. A table adorned with Coco & Wolf’s Liberty fabric table linens creates the perfect backdrop for these moments, elevating the ordinary to the extraordinary. We’d love to hear your own memorable food stories from Christmas past - whether they’re funny, sentimental, or downright delicious. Share them with us, and let’s celebrate the joy and nostalgia that food brings to the season.

Happy Christmas from all of us at Coco & Wolf.
